Emotional Regulation as Women (when you feel out of control...especially b/c of hormones)

Emotion regulation is defined as "the ability to exert control over one's own emotional state."  Women are cyclical beings, and the emotions that flow through us can feel overwhelming at times.  In order to have more agency over the way we express our emotions, it is imperative that we understand the way the nervous system works.  Emotions like fear, anxiety, and anger are often triggered by our innate survival response.  Emotions are inevitable, and emotional regulation as women can happen more smoothly when we know how to self soothe - this starts with identifying the sensations that are associated with nervous system activation.  When we build consciousness and space around our emotional reactions, we have more agency as to how we respond and can alchemize our emotions as the gifts that they are.
